3/22/2010 - Meeting With David

On Tuesday March 22, I was looking at different .png libraries and culminated with a meeting with David.  At first I was looking for different libraries but was having no success in finding a good/usable one.  But then I got some advice from Philip who was here and looked at this site for a library: http://www.libpng.org/pub/png/pngcode.html.
This site gave a lot of information, but it felt like it gave some complicated tools that we did not need.  So I decided that this was not the .png library that we needed.
After class, I met with David.  We decided to analyze the minute details of the various images and devise a plan.  We examined the various colors of the windows, and then looked at the different colors for overlapping windows.  Since it is Windows 7, the different windows are not shown in the task bar and we decided to resort to building a program that looks at the window for vertical and horizontal colors.

The Contest Problem

Today, I completely understood the problem that we were given for the contest.
We are given a screenshot in .png format that is in Windows 7.  Each image will have one difference to a window in the image.  These are minimizing, maximizing, closing, change size.  The objective is to make a window that can take the .png image and say how many windows are open.
